This 6-lesson course is designed as an introduction to programming using Visual Basic .NET. Upon completion of this course, students will be familiar with the basics of creating a graphical user interface; responding to user events; use of variables in code; selection structure (If..Then.. Else); loops (For..Next, Do While, Do Until); and reading and writing basic XML files. The time required per lesson will vary, the lectures will take approximately 3 hours per lesson, and the lab exercises and projects may take up to 9 hours per lesson.
There are no prerequisites for programming knowledge, however, students should be familiar with computers and file management (Windows Explorer). Students will need to purchase and load a version of Visual Basic .NET.
